“When in Surat, Dhoklas are mandatory”, Tushar Deshpande becomes ‘Dhokla’ guide for CSK teammates

As the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players are practising in Surat ahead of the 15th edition of IPL in 2022, they didn’t forget to taste the authentic dishes in the state of Gujarat, the ‘dhokla’ and the ‘fafda‘.

The franchise shared a video on social media on Friday, March 11 where their players were tasting the dhokla. In the video, it was pacer Tushar Deshpande who was explaining the other two players- C Hari Nishaanth and Bhagath Verma about the different food items on the table. He also showed them the way these snacks are eaten. First, the others were a little surprised that the white dhoklas were called idli–dhoklas because they taste like idlis.

Deshpande assisted his two teammates make a ‘dhokla sandwich’ by putting one dhokla over the other and putting the pudina chutney in-between. The others laughed at this new discovery of dhokla sandwich. He also showed them “the most famous fafda” and that they should be eaten with jalebis. Everyone was enjoying and called the snacks “damn good!”.

CSK start training in Surat ahead of IPL 2022

The 2022’s IPL will be played in Mumbai and Pune only due to Covid reasons, CSK chose the Surat pitch for their practice camp. Surat’s pitch resembles the Mumbai based pitch. Team captain MS Dhoni and coaches Stephen Fleming and Lakshmipathy Balaji have already arrived in Surat for the practice session.

The defending champion CSK will lock-horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match of this season’s IPL on March 26. There are 10 teams in 2022 they are divided into two groups. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are the new faces in the 15th edition of the cash-league tournament.
