Dewald Brevis

Dewald Brevis, a South African batter, is set to make his debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 14 of the ongoing IPL 2022 season.

Brevis took Tim David’s place in the lineup and will most likely bat in the middle of the order. The 19-year-old was named Player of the Tournament in the U-19 ODI World Cup, which concluded in the West Indies. He is known as ‘Baby AB’ because his playing style is similar to that of former South African batting legend AB de Villiers. Brevis will be eager to make a good first impression.

Suryakumar Yadav, meanwhile, returned to the MI setup after returning from the National Cricket Academy following injury rehabilitation. He will be replacing Anmolpreet Singh.

The 14th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season saw superstars Suryakumar Yadav and Pat Cummins return to action for their respective teams, the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, South Africa’s young star Dewald Brevis stole the show on his IPL debut with a short but exciting knock while batting at three for the five-time champions.

He must be disappointed to have failed to convert a good start, but during his brief stint in the middle, the 18-year-old showed flashes of De Villiers and his six off Varun Chakaravarthy certainly left everyone stunned.
