Umran Malik was the star with the ball for Sunrisers Hyderabad as he picked up four wickets and a brilliant maiden over to end the innings.
In the match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the latter has won the toss and decided to bowl first in first game on Sunday, April 17 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. PBKS gave a target of 152 runs to SRH.
Apart of Liam Livingstone’s 60 runs off 33 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes, PBKS’s batters couldn’t add much to the scoreboard. SRH’s speedster Umran Malik scalped four wickets and conceded 28 runs in four overs. He even bowled a maiden over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also grabbed 3 wickets and gave 22 runs.
At one stage PBKS were looking good to make their score reach around 170. But Bhuvneshwar restricted them with the help of Umran Malik, who showed off his skills in the final over. In the final over, SRH were 151/6 and Umran Malik picked up three wickets; there was also a run out and the over was a sensational maiden one.

“He reminded me of great Waqar Younis”- India legend lauds Umran Malik
Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan revealed that Umran Malik reminded him of Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis.
“The first time I saw him bowl was when I was playing for Jammu and Kashmir and I was the mentor. And watching him bowl reminded me of the great Waqar Younis,” he said.
Legendary South African fast bowler Dale Steyn also has lots of praises for the young pacer.
He said: “Umran is fantastic. It (his performance) is no reflection of me at all. It’s all him at the moment. He has got amazing skills, he is showing everybody, bowling 150 kph. I am kind of living through him, wishing I could do it. But it’s all him at the moment. He is certainly somebody whom we should keep and eye on for the future.”
