Jaskaran Malhotra
September 9 was a day of milestones for Chandigarh-born Jaskaran Malhotra. The 31-year-old donned the USA jersey at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground as the United States of America locked horns with Papua New Guinea in the last One Day International of the two-match series.
Coming to bat at number five in the first innings, Malhotra scripted history by smashing six sixes off consecutive deliveries. The right-hander came to bat in the 10th over when the USA was reeling at 27 for three. Jaskaran showed his class as he hammered a stroke-filled 175* off deliveries. The batsman’s inning was laced with four maximums and as many as 16 sixes.
The 31-year-old caused carnage on the match field in the last over of United States’ batting inning. Jaskaran went all guns blazing against Papua New Guinea bowler Gaudi Toka as he accumulated 36 runs off just six balls. The masterclass by the right-hander steered the USA to a respectable score of 271 in their 50 overs.

With his charismatic show with the willow in the final over, Jaskaran Malhotra joined Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, and Kieron Pollard in the elite club. He became the fourth batter in the history of the gentlemen’s game to smash six sixes off six deliveries. The Chandigarh-born also registered himself as the second batter after Gibbs to smash six maximums in an over in One Day International.
Coming to his overall knock of 173, Jaskaran scripted history by becoming the first USA cricketer to smash a century in any format of the game. The middle-order batter also leapfrogged the batting maestro and former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers to smash the highest individual ODI score while batting at number five. AB previously held the record as he had smashed 162 runs off 66 deliveries against West Indies at the 2015 World Cup.
