VIRAL – Pakistan write ‘UAE 2021’ instead of ‘INDIA 2021’ on their T20 World Cup jersey

VIRAL – Pakistan write ‘UAE 2021’ instead of ‘INDIA 2021’ on their T20 World Cup jersey

Babar Azam unveiled Pakistan's 2021 T20 World Cup jersey

The rivalry between India and Pakistan isn’t limited to the on-field action as the fans of the two nations are wholly involved in almost every sporting development. The sub-continent giants are yet again set to face each other at the much-awaited 2021 ICC Twenty20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

However, a controversy has just sparked ahead of the tournament when Pakistan revealed their official jersey on October 7 (Thursday). In a shocking photograph, Pak skipper Babar Azam was captured in his team’s kit with the tournament’s logo and “UAE 2021” written underneath it.

The 2021 multi-nation ICC event (Super 12) is set to take place from October 23 onwards in the UAE and Oman. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) still has the hosting rights as the tournament matches were earlier scheduled in India before it moved out due to the COVID-19 situation in India.

“INDIA 2021” goes missing from Pakistan’s team kit

India vs Pakistan

Just like every World Cup, the name of the host nation needs to be written on each team’s official jersey. So, in this case, “INDIA 2021” must have been there on Pakistan’s kit instead of “UAE 2021”. As of now, there is no update from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) if there is some official action or changes that would be done before the tournament.

Coming to their scheduled game in 2021 T20 WC, India and Pakistan will lock horns on October 24 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai from 7:30 PM (IST) onwards.

Interestingly, IND-PAK clashes have taken place as many as five times in the previous editions of the T20 World Cup. However, India have emerged victorious on all occasions which showcase Menin Blue’s dominance against their neighbouring country.
