Virat Kohli’s 100th Test: Sachin Tendulkar remembers when he first heard Virat Kohli’s name
Virat Kohli will play the 100th Test match of his international career in India’s first Test match against Sri Lanka. After Rohit Sharma was appointed skipper, Kohli’s 100th Test will also be the first in which he does not lead the Test team himself. On Friday, when the Indian side plays Sri Lanka in Mohali, Virat Kohli will become the 12th Indian cricketer to play 100 tests for the country. NCA head VVS Laxman is the latest to pass on his wishes after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Team India’s coach.
As part of its 100th Test celebrations, the BCCI released a video featuring Sachin Tendulkar congratulating Virat Kohli. Sachin Tendulkar said, “In 2007, you were playing in the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. It was then that I first heard about you. There were players in the team talking about you, saying how good he batted.”
