Watch: Virat Kohli and dressing room all smiles as Rohit Sharma gets 1st overseas ton
One of the most persistent rumors regarding the Indian cricket team has been the apparent rift between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma. For some years now, it is speculated that the two pillars of the Indian team are always at loggerheads with each other and don’t share a good camaraderie.
Both Virat and Rohit have never taken the pain of clarifying the rumors and are always tight-lipped about the same. However, it is said that action speaks louder than words and the same approach is being used by the legendary Indian duo too.
During the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England, Kohli again quashed the rumors of a rift with Rohit by standing up and applauding the opening batter. The Test series is becoming a series of milestones for Rohit Shama. The right-hander is breaking records after records in the purest format of the game to prove himself as one of the greatest Test opening batsmen.
Virat Kohli applauds Rohit Sharma
Playing on day three of the Oval Test, Rohit defied all odds as he slammed his maiden Test overseas ton. While this was Rohit’s eighth Test century, it was the first time that it came away from home. The 34-year-old reached the remarkable feat just before tea with a humongous six off Moeen Ali.
Apart from Rohit, the other person who grabbed attention was Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli was one of the first players from the Indian dressing room to stand up and applaud his opening batsman. The skipper could be happily seen cheering Rohit in a viral video. Apart from Kohli, other Indian players were also all smiles as they lauded the 34-year-old.
As far as the match is concerned, India has a long road ahead if they want to win the Test match to take a lead in the series. The Indian team is leading by 118 runs with Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle.
