Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj

There is no denying that Indian skipper Virat Kohli and DRS don’t go hand in hand. Kohli enjoys a bittersweet relationship with Decision Review System (DRS) as the skipper has met with disappointment more often than not. The chances of team India losing their review are generally sky-high when the Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj manages to convince the skipper to consult the third umpire.

India lost a review in the same manner once in the first Test against England and twice in the second Test at Lord’s. The fans were expecting something similar on day two of the Leeds Test also as Virat again showed trust in Siraj and opted to take a DRS. The last ball of the 94th by Siraj over saw India taking a review for caught behind against Dawid Malan.

Siraj was the only person in the Indian camp confident about the ball touching the bat before settling in Rishabh Pant’s hand. Despite Pant’s denial for taking a review, Kohli decided to trust the instincts of the bowler. In a surprising turn of events, ultra edge picked up a spike, and the on-field umpire was forced to change his decision.

The same resulted in Malan walking back to the pavilion after scoring 70 runs off 128 deliveries. As the review turned out to be right, relief surged through the Indian camp, and Virat and Siraj gave a breathtaking smile to the camera.

The Leeds Test isn’t going as per the plan for the visitors. There was a disastrous collapse of the Indian batting line-up in the first innings as they could manage just 78 runs on the scoreboard. James Anderson and Craig Overton caused the most damage for the Indian side as they picked a three-wicket haul each.

England, on the other hand, made a mockery of the Indian bowlers while batting in the second innings. At stumps on day two, the hosts are reeling at 423 runs while losing eight wickets. The English skipper Joe Root again led from the front by playing a remarkable knock of 121 runs off 165 deliveries.
