The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few days away. As stimulating fans are anticipating the day of 26 March, former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli shared his excitement about the about to start the tournament.

The 33-year-old shared a post on his social media accounts and wrote:

Now that Kohli has resigned the position of RCB’s skipper, his aficionados will expect to see their ‘King Kohli’ in his best form. He struggled a lot with the bat last year and mustered only 405 runs, which, by his standards is mediocre. His strike rate, in the last two seasons, was around just 120. Free from captain’s responsibilities, and keeping in mind the upcoming T20I World Cup, Kohli will try to enhance his batting a great deal.

RCB signed Faf du Plessis and appointed him their captain. Du Plessis had represented the Chennai Super Kings franchise for nine years. This could be CSK’s loss but at the same time RCB’s major gain as the former Proteas captain has been very successful as a leader, that’s what RCB wants.

During a conversation with Prasanna Agoram on YouTube, Ravichandran Ashwin, who will represent the Rajasthan Royals this season, said: “Faf is more like towards the end of his IPL career. Maybe, he has two-three years left with him. And they have made him the captain, which is quite a good decision. He brings in a lot of experience and in fact, he has himself said that we can see a bit of MS Dhoni’s tough in his captaincy skills.”

I feel that since Virat Kohli has undergone a lot of stress as captain in the last few years, this year will be like a break for him and they might appoint him as a captain next year is my guess.” Ashwin added.
