Virat Kohli

Indian skipper Virat Kohli isn’t in his best form in the purest format of the game. The right-hander had a dismal start to his campaign in the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England. Kohli’s first four outings with the willow saw him getting dismisses at 0, 42, 20, and 7.

However, the skipper finally found his rhythm in the second innings of the third innings in Leeds. Though India ended up on a losing side in the third Test, Kohli made a morale-boosting 55 runs. Virat followed it up with another sublime knock of 50 runs in the first innings of the ongoing fourth Test at the Oval.

Kohli also got off to a terrific start in India’s second batting innings. In between the match, the Indian skipper made headlines by playing his trademark cover drive. The magnificent drive by Virat left the cricket fanatics in awe. On the second ball of the 100th over, the 32-year-old perfectly times a full and wide delivery by seamer James Anderson.

However, Virat couldn’t prolong his stay for long in the crease. The right-hander was dismissed by Moeen Ali on the sixth delivery of the 111th over. As Kohli was trying to defend the ball, it got the edge and Craig Overton completed a simple catch to send the Indian skipper back to the pavilion.

Kohli could add just 44 runs to the scoreboard in 99 deliveries. His innings included as many as seven beautiful boundaries. Virat’s dismissal has also left the Indian team in trouble. India found itself reeling at 312 for six with Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur in the middle.
