“New Jersey design is Awesome” – Virat Kohli rates RCB’s new jersey ahead of IPL 2022

Faf du Plessis replaces former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli as the team’s new skipper ahead of IPL 2022. This will be the team’s seventh skipper. The Royal Challengers Bangalore has started their pre-season announcements and they have launched the new jersey at the same time as Du Plessis’ announcement.

Muthoot Fincorp is the franchise’s main sponsor along with a few others. The RCB official Twitter account posted a photo of Faf and Kohli wearing the new kit. Over the years Kohli has always taken pride in playing for and wearing the RCB jersey. This time was no different as the former captain said the colour and style of the kit were his favourites.

“I love the design. I love how the dark blue blends into the red and the detailing of the jersey is amazing. I love the new RCB typeface as well and the integration of the RCB lion. The material is so comfortable I absolutely love it and the moment I wore it, I felt something special. I can definitely say, this is my most favourite RCB jersey, ever!” the 33-year old said.

The franchise retained Virat Kohli (15cr), Glenn Maxwell (11 Cr) and Mohammed Siraj (7 Cr) ahead of the mega auction. In the auction, they roped in 19 players including Faf du Plessis for 7 crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) play their first game against Punjab Kings in a day-nighter on March 27 at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai.

After being announced as the skipper of the side, Faf kept a word on Virat’s importance for the side and how he will count on his experience of taking to their maiden IPL title.

“His (Kohli’s) achievement as a cricket player has been probably one of the greatest, so big respect for what he’s done not just with the bat in his hand but also in terms of captaincy, he’s revolutionized Indian cricket,” Du Plessis said.
