“Muh se vada pav cheen liya”: Virender Sehwag’s quirky tweet as an insane Pat Cummins smashes fastest 50 off 14 balls to hammer MI
Virender Sehwag and Pat Cummins
Virender Sehwag took to Twitter and hilariously tweeted about Cummins snatching the victory from the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians. ‘Vada pav’ is usually associated with the Mumbai city and Sehwag wrote that Cummins, with his jaw-dropping joint 50 off 14 in the history of IPL snatched the famous snack ‘vada pav’ from the MI.
In the match yesterday, MI had scored 161 runs and in response, Kolkata Knight Riders top batsmen failed to perform. Andre Russell was expected to play a big knock but he got dismissed for just 11 runs. Pat Cummins walked to the field when Kolkata had already lost five wickets. Along with the partnership with Venkatesh Iyer, who also scored an unbeaten 50, Cummins became a headache for the MI bowlers.
Known for his lethal pace bowling, the Australian all-rounder shocked the entire cricket fraternity by smashing a fastest joint-fifty off just 14 balls, sharing this brilliant feat with Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul. He led the Knight Riders to a five-wicket victory over their nemesis Mumbai Indians as they have only won only 7 out of their 29 encounters.
It was KKR’s third victory and they reached the top position on the leaderboard with 6 points while MI remained at the bottom, just like CSK, after their three successive defeats.
Virender Sehwag faces backlash from Rohit Sharma fans about the ‘Vada pav’ remarks
Virender Sehwag’s ‘vada pav’ tweet wasn’t easily accepted by the MI captain Rohit Sharma’s fans. It sparked a controversy for drawing this reference. But Virender Sehwag clarified his tweet a few hours later and asked Rohit Sharma fans to cool down because the ‘vada pav’ reference was for Mumbai and not for Rohit Sharma. He even said that he (Sehwag) is a bigger fan of Rohit’s batting than most people.
