Washington Sunder, SRH’s all-rounder, is likely to miss at least the next two matches of the team after sustaining finger injury in his bowling hand.

“Washington Sunder has torn the webbing in his right hand, between his thumb and first finger. We must monitor that over the next two-three days. Hopefully, it isn’t a significant blow. I’d imagine it’d take probably a week or so to settle down,” SRH coach Tom Moody has said after the win against Gujarat Titans yesterday.

Washington Sundar has scored 58 runs and picked four wickets in his four appearances in IPL 2022. Shreyas Gopal, Jagadeesha Suchith, and Abdul Samad are the possible options to fill Sundar’s place in the next matches.

SRH’s Rahul Tripathi was forced to retire hurt midway through the chase. He fell on the ground right after hitting a six. But SRH coach Moody says he there is no fear of a serious injury.

“He’s fine, he’s just getting cramped,” said Moody.

“It’s humid conditions and we get him to run to hotspots, so he covers a lot of ground in the first two-three overs.
“That is something we may need to look at to make sure we get the maximum out of him with the bat because obviously, he is a very valuable player for us.”

A controlled bowling attack followed by SRH skipper Kane Williamson’s 50 helped the Sunrisers hammer the Gujarat Titans by eight wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium on Monday. They have also defeated the Chennai Super Kings and with this, they have two wins; are placed at the eight position in the points table.
