India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah seems to be in sensational form during the last of the fourth Test between India and England at the Kennington Oval. With England set to chase 368 runs in the fourth innings, India needed nothing but quick wickets from the bowling unit.

The visitors didn’t have an ideal start to the last innings as England’s opening pair of Rory Burns and Haseeb Hammed flaunted their class and talent. The two batters stitched a crucial 100-run opening stand in the middle to give England a perfect stage. However, England tumbled in the 41st over as Shardul Thakur scalped the first wicket in the form of Burns.

The same was followed by another wicket for India as David Malan lost his wicket after getting succumbed to a run-out. Two wickets in the first sessions definitely put India in a leading position as England were reeling at 131 for two at tea. However, India still needed as many as eight wickets to secure a victory.

After tea, India’s bowling up came on the field with a different mood as they asked some tough questions from the opposition batters. Jadeja scalped the first wicket for India in the second session by sending Haseeb back to the pavilion. However, it was Jasprit Bumrah who stole all the thunder with his mind-blowing performance.

The Ahemdabad-born went all guns blazing against England’s batting unit to make India favorites. The 27-year-old started his exploits with his first wicket coming in the form of Ollie Pope. Bumrah dismissed Pope on the fifth delivery of the 65th delivery. The Indian pacer bowled an inswinger that caught Ollie by surprise.

Losing his wicket cheaply to Bumrah, Pope had to march back after scoring just two runs off 11 deliveries. With this wicket, the 27-year-old also achieved a special milestone. Pope was Bumrah’s 100th Test wicket. The seamer leapfrogged Kapil Dev to become the fastest bowler to reach 100 wickets in the purest format of the game. Dev picked 100th wickets in 25 innings while Bumrah achieved the remarkable feat in his 24th innings.

Bumrah didn’t stop at the 100th wicket only. The speed merchant again returned in the 67th over to give a big blow to the England side. The Mumbai Indians star nailed a perfect yorker to send Jonny Bairstow back at a duck. The two back-to-back wickets by the right-hander broke the backbone of England’s batting line-up and brought them on backfoot.
