WATCH: Finland sets bizarre field placement with eight slips against England XI in European Cricket Championship
Finland placed eight slips against England XI in European Cricket Championship match
The Finland cricket team set a strange field position against England XI in the European Cricket Championship that was played on Thursday. The incident took place in the opening over of the English innings where the Finland pace bowler went with eight slips and one leg slip to the batter.
Moreover, he ended up bowling a good delivery at the outside-the-off stump length where the batter swung and missed the ball. The fielding suede also made a half-hearted appeal for caught-behind but the on-field umpires showed no interest. This field set-up grabbed everyone’s eyeballs after its clip went viral on social media.
Here’s the full video of the interesting field set-up by Finland against English batter:
Finland suffer a 14-run defeat
Batting first, team England posted a decent total of 113/4 on the board in their quota of 10 overs. Skipper Dan Lincoln smashed 56 off just 26 balls to contribute a major chunk of his team’s total. Down the order, Andy Rishton scored 26 off just nine deliveries to take England to a par score.
Coming to the run chase, Finland faltered as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Matthew Jenkinson remained unbeaten on 39 in the chase but lost partners at the other end and there was no one to stick around with him. They ultimately scored 99/6 and lost the game in the end by a narrow margin of 14 runs.
Finland’s bizarre field-set became the talking point in the game more than the result. The teams participating in the European Cricket Championship are trying to make a mark in the game of cricket at the highest level.
