Indian team have won the game against Pakistan in their first match, but they accepted their defeat in front of Pakistan captain’s adorable daughter.
India has maintained the record of winning 10 matches against its traditional rival Pakistan. With a satisfying start in their opening contest against Pakistan at the ICC Women’s World Cup, India thrashed the latter by 107 runs on Sunday in Mount Maunganui in New Zealand.
Mithali Raj’s side was threatened by Maroof’s team when the score showed 114-6 in the 34th over. Along with opener Smriti Mandhana’s 52, the lower-order batters Pooja Vastrakar’s 67 and Sneh Rana‘s 53, helped India to a total of 244-7. Spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad (4-31) destroyed the middle order of Pakistan. The Indian seamers also kept it tight from the beginning. This helped India bowl out Pakistan at 137 with seven overs remaining in their innings.
After the match, players from both sides started interacting with each other. Pakistan’s captain Bismah Maroof is travelling with her baby girl Fatima. And while talking, the Indian team gathered around Bismah Maroof who was holding her baby daughter and started playing with her. The video of this warm and sweet gesture is winning the hearts of all. They also posed for a picture with baby Fatima while she was resting in her mother’s arms.

As women cricketers, we don’t earn as much to afford luxuries: Bismah Maroof

“A child needs the mother. If I had to continue my career, the question would have been- where would my kid go? And if I’m on the field, who will take care of the kid? Hiring a nanny and taking her along everywhere is expensive, and as women cricketers, we don’t earn as much to afford such luxuries. Our contracts help us survive and make a living, but without a parental policy, it would’ve become difficult to continue playing with a child around,” told Bismah Maroof to Cricbuzz.
“With a kid around, it’s a different energy in the team, everyone feels relaxed. When you’re too focused on one thing, it builds pressure on you. When you’re around a kid, all your unnecessary worries disappear.”
