The first Test match between India and South Africa is currently underway at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. The visiting side is all over the Proteas with the help of their lethal pace bowling, initiated by Jasprit Bumrah, who got Dean Elgar’s wicket in the early overs.

However, the right-hander had to leave the mid-way while bowling the 11th over of the inning after he seemed to have an issue with his ankle. The incident took place on the fifth delivery when the speedster twisted his ankle in the followthrough. However, the positive sign was that he was able to get up on his feet and walk off himself. The last ball was bowled by Mohammed Siraj, who completed Bumrah’s sixth over.

After having a horrible first day with the ball, the hosts came back strong to claim all the remaining Indian wickets in a quick span. The Virat Kohli-led side added just 55 runs to their total for the loss of their final seven wickets in the first session of Day 3. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi went on to complete an outstanding 5-fer as he ended with a spell of 6/71 in 24 overs.

However, the SA batters couldn’t continue with the momentum as their top four batters went back to the pavilion with just 32 runs on the board. Following this, Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock indulged in a decent fifth-wicket partnership of 72 runs before the latter got out to Shardul Thakur just before the tea break.

Team South Africa trailed by 218 runs with a scare of conceding a follow-on which will further ruin their chances of staying alive in the Centurion Test against India.
