WATCH – Mohammed Shami drops a straightforward return catch of Dean Elgar at Centurion Test
Mohammed Shami pouched a regulation return catch
The first Test match between India and South Africa is currently underway at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. The visitors are all over the opposition owing to a brilliant bowling effort by their speedsters, led by Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
However, the former had dropped a simple catch of the Proteas skipper Dean Elgar off his own bowling. This incident took place on the fourth ball of the 46th over when the southpaw was early into a check-drive and it only managed to get off the sticker right back to Shami. But the Indian seamer didn’t seem to be ready for this as he fluffed a bit of a sitter and dropped one of the easiest caught and bowled chances.

Nonetheless, the Bengal fast bowler has had a magnificent Test much as he claimed a special 5-fer in the first innings of the game. Meanwhile, he also became the fourth Indian pacer to complete 200 wickets in Test cricket. Shami didn’t stop as he went on to claim yet another scalp in the form of opening batter Aiden Markram in the second innings on Wednesday.
“A proud moment and to do it for the team here in Centurion is special…200 and counting…Thanks to everyone for the love and support,” Shami wrote on completing his sixth five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket.
Following this, the right-hander received applause from plenty of members belonging to the cricket fraternity. Here are some of the top tweets:
