Watch: Puppy invades the pitch during Ireland’s domestic Women’s T20 tournament

Ireland are hosting a domestic Women’s T20 tournament, Clear Currency Women’s All-Ireland T20 to promote sport among the females in the country. On Saturday, September 11, Bread Cricket Club were up against Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club in the T20 Extravaganza at the Bready Cricket Club in Magheramason. The domestic T20 has stolen all the limelight in the cricket fraternity as an adorable clip from the game has gone viral on social media.

In the adorable yet short video, a small puppy can be seen invading the field to chase the ball. The fourth ball of the ninth over of the second innings saw A Leckey pushing the ball towards the mid-wicket to take a quick single. As the Bready Cricket Club fielder ran to catch the ball, the cute puppy came running onto the field to play with the ball. The furry animal kept moving from one end to the other on the ground as the players passed on the ball to each other.

The puppy managed to take hold of the ball and started running on the entire ground with a staff member running behind him. After a lot of coaxing, he finally left the ball and was moved out of the field by the ground staff. The official Twitter handle of Ireland Women’s Cricket tweeted the video with the caption, “Great fielding by a small furry pitch invader”

The video caused a lot of buzz on social media as the cricket fans termed it as one of the most adorable moments in the history of the gentlemen’s game. As far as the match is concerned, Bready scripted an 11-run victory over Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club. Bready posted 105 runs while batting first in the game. However, chasing the target, Civil Service collapsed at 63 for nine in their 12 overs. The 20-over match was shortened to a 12-over game due to disturbance by the rain.
