New Zealand spin bowler Ajaz Patel has registered a historic record against his name during the ongoing second Test match against India. The Mumbai-born went on to claim all 10 wickets in the first innings of the Mumbai Test on Saturday.

Reacting to this, ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was seen applauding from the dressing as Patel grabbed his last scalp. The 33-year-old’s last wicket came in the form of speedster Mohammed Siraj, who shaped up a mighty slog after getting down and the ball ballooned up towards the mid-on region off the top-edge where Rachin Ravindra completed a skier.

The official Twitter of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to share the video of Ashwin’s reaction to Patel’s feat.

“Incredible achievement as Ajaz Patel picks up all 10 wickets in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test. He becomes the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to achieve this feat. #INDvNZ @Paytm,” the caption of the post read.

Ajaz is now only the third bowler in Test cricket to achieve this historic feat as Jim Laker (England) and Anil Kumble (India) were the two others ahead of him. Interestingly, Patel, who was born in Mumbai, has played a lot of cricket during his childhood days at the Wankhede Stadium before moving to New Zealand.

The left-arm orthodox bowler ended with four wickets on day one of the Test matches and successfully picked the remaining six on the following day. In the end, the hosting team posted a decent total of 325 runs on the board with things down to the bowlers now.
