WATCH – Rishabh Pant sledges Rassie van der Dussen from behind the stumps at Jo’burg Test
Rassie van der Dussen and Rishabh Pant
Team India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant became a victim of his heated argument with South Africa’s Raasie van der Dussen on the third day of the Johannesburg Test. The southpaw got out for a three-ball duck while playing a rash shot against pace bowler Kagiso Rabada.
Just before his dismissal, Pant and Van de Dussen exchanged a few words and Pant was caught saying: “If you have half-knowledge, then keep your mouth shut” while returning to face the next delivery.

However, Pant decided to take it to the Proteas players during the fourth innings while he was behind the stumps. He began while passing on a few comments at SA skipper Dean Elgar, who is currently batting at 46* in the run-chase.

“What a captain, he thinks only about himself,” Pant was heard saying as Van der Dussen came in at 4 to join Elgar at The Wanderers on Thursday.
The gloveman didn’t stop here as he further reckoned: “He’s playing as a sledger,” Pant announced to his teammates as Van der Dussen took strike against Ravi Ashwin. “He’s taking a fresh guard after every 4-5 balls. He bats at No.4 but he has no idea where his guard is,” Pant was heard chirping as the batter asked the bowler to pause.

This heated on-field incident also led to a discussion in the commentary box. Mark Nicholas said, “Pant is just giving Van der Dussen a bit of tit for tat,” to which Sunil Gavaskar replied, “Let me tell you Pant is giving him a lot more tit than tat.”
At the end of the day’s play, Rassie was batting at a hard-fought 11* runs in 37 deliveries without scoring any boundary.
