India and England are up against each other in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Kennington Oval in London. India has performed considerably well in the match so far as they have had an upper hand on England for a larger portion of time. One of the biggest positives for India in the Ovall Test has to be seam all-rounder Shardul Thakur.

Shardul made a comeback in India’s playing XI in the fourth Test as he replaced an injured Ishant Sharma. The 27-year-old has successfully made a case for himself to become a permanent member of India’s Test XI. For the major portion of the match, Shardul dominated the 22-yeard pitch owing to his exploits with the willow.

India’s first batting innings saw Shardul slamming the fastest Test century on England soil. The 29-year-old hammered 57 runs off 36 deliveries to steer India to a respectable score. The Maharastra-born carried his terrific form in India’s second batting innings too. In the third innings, Thakur played a sensible knock as he hammered 60 runs off 72 balls.

After the willow, it was time for Thakur to shine with the ball too. The 29-year-old completed his responsibility as a fifth bowler too by giving the first breakthrough to the Virat Kohli-led side. Opening the innings for England, Rory Burns and Haseeb Hammed gave their team a perfect start by stitching a crucial partnership of 100 runs.

After bowling as many as 40 overs, India finally gained some success as Shardul Thakur bowled the ball of the day to dismiss Rory Burns. The fourth ball of the 41st over saw the Indian seamer bowling a class delivery to send the English batter back to the pavilion just after he had completed his half-century.
