WATCH: Virat Kohli left clueless by Taijul Islam’s magical delivery

Following the completion of the ODI series, India and Bangladesh locked horns for a two-match Test series, starting Wednesday (December 14). After the series defeat, the Men in Blue were expected to bounce back in the longest format of the game. However, they dealt some early blows in the game.

Electing to bat first after getting the coin flip in their favor, the visitors saw their first wicket go down in the form of opener Shubman Gill. Even captain KL Rahul couldn’t do much as he walked back to the pavilion after a few overs. If this wasn’t enough, team India suffered another massive blow when Virat Kohli was caught in front of the wickets.

Kohli was new to the crease and was looking to set his eyes on but failed to buy some time for himself. He misjudged a delivery from Taijul Islam, which caught him off guard in front of stumps. As a result, he was given out by the on-field umpire. Although the veteran batter took help of DRS in hopes of changing the decision, the technology also reported a disappointing outcome for him. He was dismissed for just 1 after facing five deliveries.

Virat Kohli has enjoyed a good time with the bat ever since his return in the 2022 Asia Cup. He scored runs consistently to see off his rough patch. In the process, he made it to his maiden T20I century and recently also smashed a ton in ODI. However, the wait for a Test ton remains tall.

Kohli scored his last hundred in Test cricket three years back. It came against Bangladesh in November 2019 at the iconic Eden Gardens when he scored a mammoth 194 runs. Hence, he would want to repeat the same against the same opposition this time to bring the drought to an end.
