Ish Sodhi claimed the crucial wicket of Rohit Sharma

The third and final Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and New Zealand is currently underway at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Meanwhile, Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi pulled off a one-handed catch on his own bowling to dismiss the opposition’s skipper and opening batter Rohit Sharma

Sharma, who was batting brilliantly on 56 runs off just 31 deliveries, got out against the run of play on Sunday. The incident took place on the second ball of the 12th over when Rohit shimmied down the track to dispatch a loose ball by Sodhi. However, he could only manage to hit it straight back to the 29-year-old, who claimed a one-handed stunner.

Rohit Sharma and Co won yet another won the toss and opted to bat first to test their batting unit for posting a big total on the board. The Indian openers were off to a great start as their side was placed at 69/0 at the end of the powerplay overs.

After brilliant knocks from Rohit (56) and Ishan Kishan (29), the ‘Men in Blue’ lost a few quick wickets in the middle overs. The Iyer duo – Shreyas (25 of 20) and Venkatesh (20 off 15) capitalised from there on before Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar provided the late fireworks. As a result, India posted a mammoth score of 184 for the loss of seven wickets on the board at the end of their quota of 20 overs.

In the bowling department, Blackcaps’ stand-in captain Mitchell Santer emerged as the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 4-0-27-3.
