Imran Tahir
Age is no barrier for South Africa’s veteran leg spinner Imran Tahir. Despite being 42 years old, Tahir is one of the renowned personalities in the South Africa cricket and T20 league across the globe. The Pakistan-born donned the South Africa jersey for the first time in a One Day International against West Indies in February 2011.
The leg-spinner has enjoyed an illustrious ride in the international circuit. Tahir has featured in 20 Tests, 107 ODIs, and 38 T20I games for the Proteas. The Lahore-based cricketer has 57 Test, 173 ODI, and 63 T20I wickets to his credit. Imran Tahir has recently made headlines as he was left out from South Africa’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. The spinner had openly expressed his disappointment saying he deserved more respect from his nation.
Coming to the Indian Premier League, Tahir came into the limelight with his mind-boggling performance for the three-time champion Chennai Super Kings. The right-hander continues to be an integral part of the CSK setup. Tahir enjoyed his peak in the T20 Extravaganza during the 2019 edition. The bowler has won the purple cap and was almost successful in steering CSK to their fourth title.
Apart from his professional life, Imran Tahir has often garnered limelight for his personal life too. The spinner is happily married to Sumayya Dildar and the couple has one of the sweetest love stories in the cricket fraternity.
Who is Imran Tahir’s wife Sumayya Dildar
Sumayya Dildar was a model by profession but she gave up her flourishing career to be a full-time homemaker and act as a support system for her cricketer husband. Imran’s first meeting with Sumayya happened when the leg spinner toured South Africa while being a part of Pakistan’s Under-19 team.
It was his wife who inspired Tahir to shift his base to South Africa as Sumayya was quite clear about not leaving her country. To be with the love of his life, the 42-year-old decided to relocate to the Proteas country and start his cricketing career from the scratch. The Lahore-born tied the knot with Dildar in 2007 in a private ceremony. The couple is now parents to an adorable son, Gibran.
