Shreyas Iyer is an attacking middle-order batsman who has quickly made a name for himself in the Indian cricket fraternity. Within a short span of time, Iyer has established himself as the next big thing in the Indian cricket team. The right-hander also finds himself in the race for becoming the captain of the Indian cricket team in the coming years.

Making his debut for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, Shreyas Iyer flaunted his class with the willow. The turning point in Iyer’s cricket career came in 2015 when Delhi paid a whopping INR 2.6 crore to acquire his services for the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai-born justified his paycheck as he ended up with 439 runs from 14 IPL games.

What followed after that was Iyer churning performances after performances in both the domestic circuit and the Indian Premier League to grab the attention of the Indian selectors. The 26-year-old soon made his debut for the Men in Blue in One Day International and 20-over format.

India’s loss in the 2019 World Cup paved way for Shreyas Iyer as a permanent number four for the Indian cricket team in white-ball cricket. The stylish batter has featured in a total of 22 ODIs and 29 T20Is so far scoring 813 and 550 runs respectively at an average of 42.8 and 28.9.

Everything was going right for Shrey as but a sudden shoulder injury during the England tour of India 2021 jeopardized the batter’s plans a bit. Iyer will now have to once again prove his talent with the willow to find a place in the playing XI. He has been picked as a stand-by player for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

As far as the right-hander’s personal life is concerned, he is currently single and is putting all his energy into getting his cricket career back on track.
