“You will still get an opportunity to bid me farewell” – MS Dhoni hints at playing in IPL 2022

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni, who is in the twilight of his professional cricket career, has almost assured to play in the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
During a recent interaction with the fans on Tuesday (October 5) to celebrate the 75th year of India Cements (owner of CSK), Dhoni revealed his plans with the three-time champions side. The veteran cricketer reckoned that he hopes to play his last game in the cash-rich league in front of fans in Chennai.
“There cannot be a better day than that (announcement of his retirement from international cricket on August 15). When it comes to farewell, you can always come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. You will still get an opportunity to bid me farewell so hopefully, you will come to Chennai, I will play my last game there and I can meet all the fans,” Dhoni said during India Cements’ 75 years function.
MS Dhoni’s performance in IPL 2021
After a miserable performance in IPL’s previous season, the Chennai-based franchise made a terrific comeback in the 14th edition of the tournament. MS Dhoni and his men have qualified for the playoffs with nine wins in 13 matches against their name. The ‘Yellow Army’ currently holds the second spot in the Points Table.
However, MSD has looked a bit off-colour with the bat in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league in the UAE. The swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter has managed to amass just 84 runs from 13 games at an underwhelming strike rate of 97.67.
MS Dhoni will now be next seen in CSK’s last game of the season against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on October 7 (Thursday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
