Zaka Ashraf, former PCB chairman has made a shocking revelation about the tour of Pakistan to India in December-January 2012-13.

Zaka Ashraf blamed the Indian media for tarnishing the images of Pakistani players and their country. To keep an eye on the players, Zaka Ashraf had made a decision to send the wives of the Pakistani players. He said that the reason behind this was to ensure that nothing wrong happens and avoid any controversies.

“Everyone took it in a nice manner and went to India. Everyone remained disciplined. Every time a Pakistan team had toured India, their country would always try to trap us and tarnish the image of our players and country. So that was avoided,” said the former PCB chief.

Zaka Ashraf also informed that BCCI had promised to send their team to tour Pakistan for a bilateral series but that never happened.

“We should always try to restore ties with the Indian government in regard to cricket. The biggest advantage we have right now is that General Bajwa is currently occupying the position and he himself wants to see Pakistan cricket prosper. They invited us for a short series and once we went there, I met with BCCI Chairman at the time Narayanaswami Srinivasan. He promised India’s participation on Pakistan soil granted if foolproof security is given,” added Zaka Ashraf.

Bilateral series between the two Asian giants has always been a rarity as politics continue to hinder both the nations to play against each other. The last time they played a Test match was in 2007. But they do play in major ICC tournaments.

India and Pakistan haven’t played a bilateral series since 2013. The 2012-13 tour ended with Pakistan winning the three match ODI series and equaled two-match T20I series. Pakistan will host the Asia Cup next year and only time will tell if Indian government will allow their participation or not.
