Cricketers who are natives of one nation, while represented another country


In the past few years, the charm for cricket has risen enormously. Not just nations have seen the rise of cricket as a sport in the country; many domestic leagues hosted worldwide have brought players closer to each other.
In the wake of rising opportunities, there have been many players born in one country, but, to pursue their love for cricket, played for some other nations. Here are a few of them.
John Traicos

Born in Egypt, John featured two nations in the cricket. The African player lately, he earlier played for Zimbabwe. The off-spinner played his first for South Africa against Australia in February 1970 and went onto play seven Tests and 27 ODI matches. His last appearance in international cricket came for Zimbabwe in 1993 in an ODI versus India.
Moises Henriques

A native of Portugal, Henriques is the first Portuguese cricketer to represent Australia in an international match. He is one of the top all-rounders in the world right now and has played for multiple IPL franchises.
Ashok Gandotra

Little would anyone know that the former Indian left-handed batsman Ashok Gandotra was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 72-year-old represented the Indian cricket team in two Test matches back then in 1969.
Imad Wasim

Born in Swansea, Wales, the cricketer has played white-ball player Pakistan but has not played any red-ball format for the team yet. He is one of the fine T20 specialists, who has featured in almost every T20 league in the world.
Freddie Brown

Born and brought up in Lima, Peru, Brown was a member of the English Test team for 22 years. The right-handed batsman played 22 Tests for the England cricket team from 1931 to 1953. Besides, he was a part-time bowler who bowled right-arm medium pace as well as leg-breaks.
Amjad Khan

The right-arm fast-medium bowler, who played international cricket for England, was born in Denmark. Infact, Khan is the only bowler in Test history who was born in Denmark.
Khan’s career was short-lived as the 40-year-old played only one Test and one T20I for England against West Indies in 2009.
Jehan Mubarak

Many cricket fans would know Jehan Mubarak for his explosive batting in the first T20 World Cup, but hardly would any know that was is a native of Washington D.C. Mubarak played 13 Tests, 40 ODIs, and 16 T20Is for the Sri Lankan cricket team.
