Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the most passionate players to ever play the sport. The Portugal and Al-Nassr No.7 recently made history by breaking the record for most goals scored in a single Saudi Pro League season. With an electric brace against Al-Ittihad in the final League game of their season, Ronaldo now has 35 goals in the competition.
The forward headed home from close range to break the record earlier held by Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah. His ‘aggressive’ celebration that followed managed to catch the attention of football fans worldwide. While many chose to laud the forward for his desire to win and ‘passion’ for the game, others laughed at the ‘pointless’ celebration.
Following the game, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself with the caption that “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me“.

Regardless of the win, Al-Nassr would have only finished 2nd, and 14 points behind League champions Al-Hilal. After many cast doubts following Ronaldo’s move to Saudi, his latest record acts as an example to why the No.7 always follows through on his promises.
Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘aggressive’ celebration
Cristiano Ronaldo‘s most recent celebration against Al-Hilal acts as the best example for his unmatched passion for the game. In spite of that, he is one of the most criticized players in the sport.
A fan commented that Ronaldo’s drive to win, even at the age of 39, is what makes him great. Another added that his confidence is that makes fans love him more.
However, a significant proportion of comments were aimed at Ronaldo in a negative sense. A fan laughed at how he’s been ‘trophyless’ ever since he moved to Saudi Arabia.
Another chipped in, rewriting the caption for his post. He said that ‘I don’t follow the World Cup and it doesn’t follow me either‘. The comment was a clear dig aimed at the player for falling short of the trophy which Lionel Messi won in 2022.
Many called his reaction and celebration as ‘cringe’ and difficult to even look at. Ronaldo fans came to his defense, with fans justifying his celebration as fitting for someone who just broke the goal scoring record in the League. At the age of 39, Ronaldo became the first-ever player to become League top scorer in four different countries – Spain, England, Italy and Saudi Arabia.
