Cristiano Ronaldo just broke another record and social media is left stunned. The Portuguese athlete has surpassed global sensation Taylor Swift in YouTube subscriber count. Currently, Ronaldo stands at 60.3 million while the pop singer resides a couple thousands behind at 59.9.
There is no debate about the affect and influence the two has on the masses. Cristiano Ronaldo made history a month ago by gaining 30 million subscribers in just one day. That wasn’t even the peak for the Al Nassr captain as he continued to break records and gain followers on the platform.
This time around, Ronaldo’s fans left behind the cult followers of Taylor Swift in clicking the red button. However, it wasn’t as surprising as the athlete already has millions of followers on his other social media platforms.
Taylor Swift has her YouTube channel since 2006. After a dozen albums, what seems like a gazillion concerts and tours and countless other content, the singer reached where she is. While both the individuals are prominent in their respective fields, the internet seemed to make the uncanny comparison. After having compared Cristiano Ronaldo to Lionel Messi, and Taylor Swift to pop icon Beyonce, netizens find new comparisons at every corner.
Cristiano Ronaldo uses the platform to connect with the fans better and for them to know him on a deeper level. The football sensation revealed to Variety about having thoughts about creating the channel for a very long time. Looking forward to his future plans with the channel, he shared wanting fans to learn more about him, his family and his opinions on various subjects. He also hinted inviting surprise guests on his channel.
Ronaldo shares post retirement plans amid YouTube success
After Ronaldo’s massive success on YouTube, fans got curious as to how much the Al Nassr star earned. The current standard YouTube pays is around $6 per every 1,000 views. Considering the growing number of videos and views, one can only picture the graph moving upwards. With the unexpected channel, people fear Ronaldo’s future plans for football.
In a recent conversation with a Portuguese news channel, Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his desire to do a lot of things away from the game once he retires. He further assured that he had no plans to coach any team, or any plans for the future at all.
For now, the fans remain content with the fact that he is not retiring anytime soon.
Moreover, like he mentioned in his interview, his plans with bidding farewell to soccer will be purely spontaneous.
