The forward celebrated emphatically as he completed a brace. His first goal of the game came in the 72nd minute from the penalty spot.

Another impressive statistic gave way for more praise. Ronaldo beat former Real Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos to claim the record for the most International wins at 132. His brace against Poland meant that Ronaldo now has 910 career goals to his name. Fans expressed their desire for him to reach 1000 goals, although many others were quick to dismiss the possibility of the same.

With the win, Portugal are now top of Group 1 League A. 13 points from their first five games means that Portugal have already qualified for the knockout stages.

This, in turn, will see several top players including Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva return to their clubs. Portugal boss Roberto Martinez will call up Fabio Silva and Geovany Quenda as their replacement.
