Al-Nassr skipper Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a viral infection. This means that the 39-year-old forward will not be travelling to Iraq for the club’s upcoming Asian Champions League match against Al-Shorta, on Monday.
Al-Nassr will be travelling to Baghdad without their skipper and will be hoping to impress in the continental tournament, after a rather slow start to the Saudi Pro League season, winning just one out of their first three matches. Ronaldo, most recently featured in a 1-1 draw between Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli, last week.
Ronaldo reportedly felt unwell ahead of the team’s trip to Iraq, later being diagnosed with a minor viral infection, and advised by club doctors to rest. The club posted a message on social media, hoping for his speedy recovery. Despite his absence, Al-Nassr will have the services of other star players including Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Marcelo Brozovic and new signing Mohamed Simakan. Forwards Ayman Yahya or Mohammed Maran might be asked to step in for the Portuguese.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is yet to win a major trophy in the middle-east. They would be hoping to make their mark in the ACL, after having been knocked out in the quarter-finals to Al-Ain, last season.
Cristiano Ronaldo reiterates rumors of a future in management
Speaking to ex-Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo brushed aside rumors over him pursuing a career in management, after retirement. The 39-year-old, in an interview, boldly claimed that the younger generation of players do not take advice.
Ronaldo, who is nearing the end of his career, has been rumored to take up a managerial role. However, he recently stated that it would be difficult for him to become a coach, furiously exclaiming that the young players do not listen to the advice of senior players. Moreover, he stated that the youngsters feel that they have knowledge of football, and can gain any of it from their phones.

Additionally, Ronaldo pointed out his interests beyond football, and stated that he might focus on his business venture, after retirement. The Portuguese star recently started his own YouTube channel, which broke multiple records for gaining billions of subscribers.
