Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al-Nassr took on Karim Benzema‘s Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. The two sides faced off in a battle on Friday. Goals from Ronaldo, Benzema and Steven Bergwijn set the stage for a thrilling clash as hosts Al-Ittihad claimed all three points.
Despite the defeat, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to make headlines after getting involved in a heated altercation involving former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema. Shortly after Ronaldo pulled one back for hosts, Benzema squared up against Otavio. The Portuguese superstar had to intervene and calmed the Frenchman.
Benzema was seen grabbing Otavio by the chin before Ronaldo hugged the player and took him aside. Al-Ittihad player Danilo Pereira then proceeds to ‘hit’ Otavio on his face, following which he hits the turf.

Fans on social media praised Ronaldo for his quick intervention in diffusing the situation. Following the game, Benzema also opened up about his relationship with Ronaldo.
Following the result, Al-Ittihad now has a five-point lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League. Meanwhile, things are not looking good for CR7 and his team.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s 50th goal of the season not enough as Al-Nassr ‘let go’ of League title
With the 2-1 defeat to Al-Ittihad, many have admitted to the fact that Al-Nassr is no longer competing for the League title. Even though Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines for his goal in the second half, the hosts pulled off a 2-1 win in the final minutes.
Steven Bergwijn‘s opener in the 23rd minute was ruled out for offside. It was because the assist provider Benzema was flagged for offside. Benzema then opened the scoring in the 55th minute. He hit a laser-pointed finish with his left foot into the bottom left corner from inside the penalty area.

Ronaldo quickly restored parity two minutes later. The 39-year-old fired in from close range after an inviting ball from the right fell at his feet. However, Ronaldo’s goal proved to be futile as an incredible solo effort from Bergwijn resulted in a goal.
A fan commented that Ronaldo will end his career never winning a League title in Saudi while others simply admired both Real Madrid legends as they met again. Ronaldo has ten goals and two assists in the SPL as compared to Benzema’s ten goals and 3 assists. After a few remaining games on Saturday, the SPL will now only resume on January 9th after a lengthy winter break.
