Al-Nassr skipper Cristiano Ronaldo ended his three-match goal-scoring drought when he found the back of the net in a 5-1 win over Al-Ain. It marked the Portuguese star’s 908th career goal, as Al-Nassr claimed an impressive victory over the AFC Champions League holders.

Al-Nassr’s victory over Al-Ain marked a redemption for the Saudi PL side, as they avenged last season’s ACL quarterfinal defeat to the same opposition. Anderson Talisca opened the scoring for the home side in the fifth minute.

Ronaldo doubled Al-Nassr’s lead in the 31st minute, capitalizing on goalkeeper Khalid Eisa’s mistake. A 37th-minute own-goal by Fabio Cardoso was followed by Wesley‘s goal in the 81st minute, marking Al-Nassr’s fourth of the night. Talisca later completed his brace in the 94th minute.

The win, moreover, helped Al-Nassr move to the fourth position in the ACL Elite Group A table, two points behind leaders Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. It also marked Cristiano Ronaldo’s 10th goal in 14 appearances this season.

Ronaldo went goalless in his last three matches for the club, during which they got knocked out of the King’s Cup against Al-Taawoun. With their skipper back in form, Al-Nassr will now be eyeing their first-ever ACL crown. The 39-year-old recorded eight shots and nine touches in the box against Al-Ain.

Meanwhile, the Al-Ain find themselves in troubled waters, as they are in danger of missing out on a place in the knockout stages. Hernan Crespo‘s side is at the bottom of group A with just a point and would need a significant turnaround against their next opponent, Al-Ahli.

Manchester United legend claims Cristiano Ronaldo ‘welcome back’ at the club under new manager Ruben Amorim

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham claimed that new Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim would welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo at the club for a third spell. The Portuguese star had departed Old Trafford in 2022 after a public outburst with former manager Erik ten Hag

Sheringham expressed his belief that Amorim would happily welcome back Ronaldo at the club in some capacity, either as a manager or a mentor. However, he also added that the 39-year-old, who is nearing the dawn of his illustrious career, might follow David Beckham’s path and remain away from management.

Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back under Ruben Amorim, but he is onto bigger and better things. I think that Ronaldo will follow in the path of David Beckham in doing things away from coaching.

Ronaldo could follow in the footsteps of the former Man Utd midfielder, who at the end of his playing career ventured into other football ownership. Beckham bought MLS side Inter Miami in 2014, and English non-league club Salford City in 2019.
