Cristiano Ronaldo saves the grace for Juventus as Bianconeri held for 2-2 draw

Juventus were all set to lose the Turin derby against Torino but Cristiano Ronaldo had other plans for the “Old Lady”. Juventus were helped by Cristiano Ronaldo’s 79th-minute strike and shared the spoils on Saturday in a Serie A fixture. The relegation battling side were all set to create a huge upset but the game ended in a 2-2 draw at Olimpico Grande Torino.

The 17th placed side, Torino, started with a three-man defense against the fourth-placed Juventus after the international break. Andrea Pirlo fielded a 4-4-2 formation with Kulusevski and Chiesa on the flanks. Juventus started with a great tempo but and even scored the first goal of the game. Federico Chiesa scored opened the score for Juve in the 13th minute. However, their joy was short-lived as Torino bounced back in the 27th minute. Both the teams went into halftime with a 1-1 scoreline.

Soon after the break, Juventus were caught sleeping on the field. As a result, Torino found the back of the net for the second time. It was Antonio Sanabria once again who perfectly found the back of the net. Soon after the goal, Torino went back into their shell and valiantly defended. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was not in a mood to give up after both Champions League and international fixtures’ disappointment.

The stakes were high for both sides as Torino were facing the drop whereas Juventus are slowly drifting away from the Champions League qualification. Juventus weren’t helped by their players’ attitude as Paulo Dybala, McKennie and Melo were ruled out of the game because of breaking down the protocol. Also, Andrea Pirlo wasn’t happy with his side’s concentration on the pitch. In the post-match, he said:

We must understand that we can’t lose focus even for a second. The objective is to stay as focused as possible because every time that you make a mistake, it is only right that you pay for it.
