Cristiano Ronaldo wins Player of the Century
Cristiano Ronaldo won the Player of the Century award at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. Ronaldo added to his individual tally of trophies by beating fellow rival Lionel Messi to the award.
Ronaldo has secured the award with 33% of the vote, whilst Barcelona great Messi had 20%.
Cristiano Ronaldo yet again proved why he’s the best
Just six players ended up with a vote of 2% or more, in chronological order they were; Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Messi, Ronaldinho, Robert Lewandowski and Zinedine Zidane.
Ronaldo has previously won Globe Soccer’s Player of the Year award six times, whilst Messi has won it just once.
Ronaldo’s claim to fame happened under Alex Ferguson at Manchester United after which he earned his move to Real Madrid. At Real Madrid, he scored 450 goals and provided 132 assists in 438 matches.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes picked up one of the stranger accolades of the ceremony, with the agent of the century trophy.
Ronaldo’s former club Real Madrid were labelled as the club of the century, after winning five Champions League titles and seven LaLiga’s during the last 20 years.

Ronaldo recently equalled Omar Sivori in scoring the most goals in a calender year, a record which stood from 1961. He also won the Golden Foot award recently.
