Zabien Brown produced 10 total tackles (3 solo and 7 assisted) in a 20-37 win for the Alabama Crimson Tide over SEC rivals the Tennessee Volunteers at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. However, Brown and Bama fans will remember this win for his 99-yard pick-6.
The Vols were handed a great opportunity to get a foothold in the game after trailing for most of the first half. Right before the first half break, Tennessee only needed three yards to bring itself within two points of the Crimson Tide’s score.
Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar, who has struggled with turnovers as of late, threw a pass straight to Alabama cornerback Zabien Brown inside the end zone.
Brown caught the ball and ran 99 yards in the opposite direction to score a pick-6 (Alabama’s first interception return for a touchdown since Chris Braswell in 2023 at Mississippi State). Bama ended the first half with a sixteen-point lead.

This was Brown’s first career pick-6. He recorded a fumble return during his debut Bama game against Wisconsin and caught 3 Interceptions in 2024.
Who is Alabama CB Zabien Brown?
Brown graduated from the prestigious Mater Dei High School in California as a five-star DB. He turned down offers from Auburn, Ohio State, USC, and Boston College before committing to Alabama in 2024.

According to the 247 Sports High School Scouting Report,
Brown had a strong senior year and showed why he’s rated among the top five corner prospects in the country. He battled some injuries during the season but played his best ball of his career during the Monarchs’ playoff run down the stretch. He’s a true shutdown corner who relishes the challenge of taking on another team’s top receiver.
Since starting college football, Brown has accumulated 23 total tackles, 4 pass deflections, 3 interceptions, and 1 pick-6.
Alabama made history by defeating Tennessee
Tennessee and Bama share the same conference, so these two teams meet once a year. It’s always a carnival affair under the floodlights.
Despite winning five out of six games to start the season, the Vols faced an uphill task. They defeated Bama in October last year, but had yet to win a game at the Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2003.
Oddsmakers favored Kalen DeBoer’s side to secure a win, and they did. Quarterback Ty Simpson played a clean 19 completions for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns game on Saturday, extending Bama’s winning streak to six straight games, boasting a 6-1 record.

According to researchers at Alabama, the win marked the Crimson Tide’s 16th consecutive victory at the Bryant-Denny Stadium. It also improved DeBoer’s record against AP-ranked opponents to 15-2 at the Division 1 level (19-3 overall). .882 winning percentage is the best winning percentage among all active head coaches who have appeared in at least 10 ranked matchups.

Bama finds itself second in the SEC behind the 7-0 Texas A&M Aggies, who are among the few FBS teams with an unbeaten record.
The Tides face their fifth SEC opponent in the form of the South Carolina Gamecocks in week 9.
