Crystal Palace v Liverpool: Preview and Predictions
P2020 06 24 Liverpool Crystal Palace 62 1

Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park after a statement victory against Tottenham at Anfield which took them to the top of the table. Crystal Palace come of a draw against West Ham United and will want to get a win to boost their standings. Liverpool come into the match with the aim of winning in order to maintain their lead over the rest of the teams.

Preview

Roy Hodgson’s era at Liverpool was a turbulent one as Liverpool were close to being relegated and also being placed under administration after being in too much debt. However Steven Gerrard’s penalty miss at Blackburn meant that Roy Hodgson was sacked and later Fenway Sports Group came along and purchased the club. Fair to say, both of those events sparked a chain of events that has seen Liverpool being champions of everything over a year. The Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League were won over the period of a year.

Now Roy Hodgson manages Crystal Palace and it isn’t an easy opponent to go up against. Wilfried Zaha is enough of a game changer and is a constant danger to any and all defender. He has terrorised Trent Alexander-Arnold before, but goes up against the right-back who has amassed vast experience now. Liverpool will have to pull out all the stops to ensure a comfortable victory against Roy Hodgson’s men.

Injuries

Crystal Palace: Christian Benteke (suspended)

Liverpool: Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, Xherdan Shaqiri, Joel Matip (doubtful)

Predicted line-ups and score

Crystal Palace: Guaita; Ward; Kouyate; Dann; van Aanholt; Townsend; Milivojevic; McArthur; Eze; Ayew; Zaha

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold; R Williams; Fabinho; Roberston; Henderson; Jones; Wijnaldum; Salah; Firmino; Mane

We predict a 2-0 victory to Liverpool as the club is high-flying now and will have the added desire of trying to overturn their mediocre away record. Crystal Palace won’t be without the services of striker Christian Benteke as he is suspended for this fixture because of a straight red card.
