Amid the Pakistan team’s poor performance in the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup, Inzamam-ul-Haq resigned from the role of Pakistan’s chief selector. The news came after Pakistani media alleged that Haq had a stake in a management company.

Those reports say players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan are associated with that company owned by agent Talha Rehmani. This raised the question of a potential conflict of interest.

As per the report, the company is responsible for negotiating terms and contracts for the players, including building their images and making them brand ambassadors. Haq also accused of selecting players who are associated with the company.

There were also allegations that his being the chief selector as well as a shareholder in a company may influence selection. In an interview with Geo News, Haq said questions were raised about him without research which is why he deemed it best to resign.
