India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his concern over the high level of pollution in Mumbai. Rohit and the team flew to Maharashtra’s capital for the India versus Sri Lanka match which is scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (November 2).
The 36-year-old shared a picture of a disturbing aerial view of Mumbai from the plane. In that picture, nothing is visible except for a thick smog.
Mumbai, yeh kya ho gaya (Mumbai, what's happened)Rohit said wrote on Instagram Story.
Notably, AQI on Monday was at 143 in the morning, while on Sunday, it was 152. The Indian captain was not the first cricketer to complain about the poor air quality in Mumbai. England’s Joe Root, after the match against South Africa, said he felt like he was eating the air.
I've obviously played in hotter conditions, and probably more humid conditions. But it just felt like you couldn't get your breath. It was like you were eating the air.Root had said during a press conference.
Rohit Sharma becomes second Indian to 1000 runs in 2023
Many Indian fans and experts criticized Rohit Sharma before the 2023 ODI World Cup because he was inconsistent with his bat. He was not only failing to score fifties or centuries but couldn’t even give a great start to the innings, falling for paltry runs most of the time.
The same was the case when he was playing in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians (MI). There were worries regarding his form but now, it seems most of his critics have become his admirers.
The Indian captain has fired on all cylinders in the World Cup and the Indian fans are hoping to see him score even more runs. After his 87-run knock against England, Rohit became the only Indian to score 1000 runs in 2023. The first Indian batter to reach the four-figure mark was Shubman Gill. Rohit also went past Sachin Tendulkar by becoming the Indian batter to score the most runs in all World Cups.
