Virat Kohli is a global star and there is no doubt about that. His popularity extends beyond the cricket-playing nations, thanks to his excellent performances, not to forget his immense popularity on Instagram (he is the third most followed sportsperson on the Meta-owned app).
The former India skipper has now another fan, Vivek Ranadive, who owns the NBA team Sacramento Kings. Ranadive amid the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup, sent a heartfelt message via a video, congratulating the talismanic Indian batter for his knocks for India in the tournament.
Ranadive said he wakes up very early despite the time zone difference between India and the USA to watch the Men in Blue play. After expressing his admiration for the 34-year-old, Ranadive expressed his hope to see him soon.
Hey Virat, Congratulations you guys won again! And you're really messing with my sleep because I live in Northern California and I wake up really early every day to watch the boys in blue.Ranadive said on Instagram.
He further added:
And I own the Sacramento Kings and I got your own shirt for you, so I'm hoping to see you soon. Maybe when you win it all and you lift the trophy, I'll get to see you. But good luck. How did Virat Kohli fare in the 2023 ODI World Cup?
Virat Kohli is enjoying phenomenal form in the World Cup, for he has played match-winning knocks several times. In the first match against Australia, despite three early dismissals, Kohli started under pressure to play an 85-run knock, guiding India to victory alongside KL Rahul.
Then he scored an unbeaten 55 against Afghanistan, before getting out on 16 runs against Pakistan. But when India faced Bangladesh, King Kohli slammed his 48th ODI century (103*) but missed his ton in the next match against New Zealand by five runs. His worst performance came against England, where he got out for a duck after playing 10 balls. Nevertheless, India went on to win that match with the help of exceptional bowling.
