Nothing is going in the way of the Pakistan Cricket Team right now. They have lost 4 matches consecutively in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, were knocked out of the 2023 Asia Cup, just lost to rivals Afghanistan by 8 wickets and failed to beat South Africa. Now, Ex-Captain Rashid Latif claims the team has not been paid for 5 months.

While on PTV Sports, Latif said Babar Azam has been trying to contact PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf, but isn’t getting any responses. He also contacted the PCB COO, Salman Naseer, but has gotten no response. “What is the reason that he is not responding to his captain? Then, you are giving out a press release. You are also saying the central contracts will be redone. Players have not received salaries for five months. Should the players listen to you?” Latif said on PTV Sports.

Pakistan have played 6 games so far in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. They started off well by beating Netherlands and Sri Lanka. After those 2 losses, they lost all the four matches they have played and their chances of qualifying for the Semi finals look bleak.

Mickey Arthur defends Babar Azam and Inzamam-ul-Haq after loss to South Africa

In the post match conference, the Director of the Pakistan Cricket team, Mickey Arthur, came in to speak to the press. After the loss to Afghanistan, the PCB released a statement saying they will support Babar Azam despite the criticism by fans and media.

Talking about the statement, Artur said, “They’re going to be blaming everybody, don’t worry. It’s just the way of the world. It’s really unfair to start a witch-hunt, certainly on Babar Azam, on Inzi (chief selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq), on our coaches, on the management team.”

Arthur further said despite not being able to bowl out South Africa, it was their best bowling performance of the tournament and the team can still make a comeback. Pakistan will play Bangladesh on 31st October in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. They still have to face New Zealand and England in their last two matches.
