The Dallas Cowboys are at the center of the offseason contract market. They have two superstar players who are up for contract extensions and could potentially leave as free agents if they don’t sign on any dotted line in a few months. However, it seems Jerry Jones is not perturbed by time winding down on deals for CeeDee Lamb or Dak Prescott. That said, the quarterback has a differing view.

Jerry Jones claimed that he has no urgency to sign CeeDee Lamb to an extension. This claim went viral and brought out a response from the wideout. Shortly after the training sessions ended, Dak Prescott said this as quoted by The Athletic’s Jon Machota;

I got urgency for it to happen.
Dak Prescott said

Dak suggested that he is not on the same page as his owner cum GM. He wants his favorite target to secure his future as soon as possible.

Dak Prescott is also in a similar situation as his wide receiver. Jerry Jones has made it clear that he wants to wait and see how they progress as the season moves on. Only then will he make up his mind about their future. It seems, Jones might have a different agenda on his mind.

It seems to be something that does not bode well for these two to stay back at the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise is aware that they are risking it all by waiting too long, as they may lose both their star quarterback and wide receiver to the open market next offseason.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb could test free agency

If the franchise owner is not of the opinion of handing them contracts soon, it is likely that it will irk both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. An irked set of football players could rethink their stance of staying back at America’s team. After all, loyalty is not a strong point of the sporting world. Very few players stay with their first franchise until they retire.

Knowing this, and the fact that there are franchises who will need elite players such as themselves, both of them could leave it all and test free agency. They both know that their skills will be valued more by franchises desperate to turn their situations around. Maybe a potential quarterback hungry team such as the New York Giants could make a play for Prescott.

Meanwhile, Lamb could get a call from the myriad of teams needing an elite All-Pro wideout. All that said, there is still time on the clock. Jerry Jones could work things out with the respective agents and get the job done before it all gets out of hand.
