Dak Prescott led the Dallas Cowboys to a much-needed victory over rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Monday Night. Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Cowboys started the 2026 season with two defeats in the first three games. They lost two of the next three games to be on a 2-4 record.
In Week 7, MNF primetime, the Cowboys took on the Eagles in Philadelphia. The Eagles also boasted the same record.
The Cowboys won 38-21. The Cowboys not only improved to 3-4, but Dak Prescott also rewrote history. According to NFL research, Prescott won his 86th regular-season game as the Cowboys quarterback. He surpassed Dallas icon and Hall of Famer Roger Staubach, who won 85 games in eleven seasons.
Moreover, Prescott was tied with his predecessor, Tony Romo, with 78 games with at least two touchdowns. His two against the Eagles broke the tie.
Dak Prescott now stands alone in 2nd place on the Cowboys’ all-time QB wins list with 86 victories, breaking a tie with HOFer Roger Staubach. The QB also broke his tie with Tony Romo for the most games with multiple passing touchdowns in Cowboys franchise history. 😮💨 @dallascowboys | #DallasCowboys

Dak Prescott is eyeing the NFC East crown
The Cowboys desperately needed to beat the Eagles after the New York Giants took down the Texans on Sunday. The win propelled the Giants to a 4-2-1 record. The Giants lead the NFC East.

However, anything can happen in the next ten weeks. The divisional crown is available. Prescott said via ESPN reporter Todd Archer:
We say the division’s right in front of us. It is as long as we win… You[‘ve] got to win games, got to win division games. How big of a game this was, understanding how much they’re hurt on their offensive side, yeah, huge road win for us.
If the Cowboys are to be in the NFC East race, Dak Prescott knew this was a much needed win vs. Eagles https://t.co/9b199D520C

The Cowboys’ run game returned, which had been missing in the last few outings. Running back Javonte Williams carried the ball 25 times for 155 yards and scored one touchdown. Tyler Goodson carried the ball 10 times for 38 yards. Prescott also made a two-point conversion using his feet. Per ESPN Research, this was the first time the Cowboys had more than 200 yards rushing and passing against Philadelphia since Week 7 of the 1983 season.
Dallas defense needs to improve
The defense nearly let them down again. Aside from DeMarvion Overshown recording an interception and Quinnen Williams getting a sack, the defense looked leaky. Tanner McKee, Eagles stand-in quarterback for the injured Jalen Hurts, threw 23 completions for 211 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Saquon Barkley rushed for 62 yards and scored one touchdown. Dameon Pierce rushed for 47 yards and scored one touchdown.
Dallas appointed former Eagles coaching staff member Christian Parker as defensive coordinator. Despite that, the Cowboys boast the third-worst defense. On average, they have allowed 382.5 yards per game and conceded 18 touchdowns.
Brian Schottenheimer’s job is on the line a little over eighteen months into his head coaching career. But Schottenheimer has Prescott in his corner.
“It’s not like [Brian’s] naïve… It’s not like he hadn’t heard some noise about him and whether it’s the call in the games or whatever doubt that’s been out there. But we’ve got his back,” Prescott said.
Next week, the Cowboys play the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals. They last played each other in November last year. Prescott threw 24 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens combined for over 150 yards. Ryan Flournoy caught the only Cowboys touchdown.
In reply, the Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw 21 passes for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marvin Harrison Jr. caught a touchdown. The Cowboys lost 27-17.
