The Dallas Cowboys suffered an embarrassment at the hands of the Detroit Lions on Sunday that left the NFL world stunned. It was a confirmation of all the negatives fans and analysts have spoken about since the end of last season.
Now with America’s team entering the bye week after their worst home loss in Jerry Jones‘ era, fingers pointed at HC Mike McCarthy and specifically quarterback Dak Prescott.
After his worst game of the season, the usually positive QB took to the post-game press conference podium.
Dak Prescott was clear that he and his teammates need to play better if they are to win games. Prime among them is to figure out how to get to the red zone and avoid interceptions.

Interesting that how hard players are practicing continues to be an issue. Dak Prescott: “It takes everybody looking in the mirror and saying, “How can I improve myself? How can we get better and help this team? And from as I said, it starts with practice.” pic.twitter.com/uy0IJNfzbE

He cited his first interception as being the game-changer. He feels that had he not thrown that pick, and instead marched down and scored a touchdown, the game would have been completely different. That is, instead of the Lions taking over and scoring, it would have been the Cowboys who would have been in the lead.
That would have put the pressure on the visitors instead. As every player knows, pressure can lead to different outcomes. Tonight, Dak Prescott and his team felt the pressure.
Dak Prescott calls out lack of a run game
One of the reporters caught on to that ‘pressure’ narrative and asked Dak Prescott how it affects them when they are down early. To this he said;
As per the 31-year-old quarterback, this lack of a run game is hurting his offense. So much so that not only is he forced to throw continuously, but his offensive line is also under pressure all the time.
It does not help when his running backs have yet to break the 100-yard mark in any game so far. Moreso, the team is second last to the New York Jets, when it comes to yards gained on the ground. Good offenses have a good mix of the run and the pass game.
But without a running game to call for, the Cowboys’ offense is already on the back foot. But as Dak Prescott said, he still needs to clean up his game if they are to play better, as the team cannot fix their running game anytime soon.
