The Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott sustained a major season-ending injury in the middle of last season – right after signing the quarterback to a four-year extension. The 31-year-old from Sulphur, Louisiana became the highest paid quarterback in NFL history, making the injury more gut-wrenching for the player and the fans.

In the meantime, Dak Prescott has continued his rehabilitation process four months after undergoing surgery for a severe hamstring injury. Prescott suffered a complete tear of his right hamstring in a Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, an injury that prematurely ended his season.

Speaking with Patrik Walker on the Cowboys’ official website, Prescott acknowledged that while he hasn’t been fully cleared for all activities, his recovery is progressing well. “I wouldn’t say I’m running full speed yet. But everything’s on the right track, and I’m excited,” Prescott said on Saturday.

The timeline for Prescott’s return remains uncertain, raising questions about his availability for the Cowboys’ offseason program. However, the veteran quarterback remains confident that he will be ready when it matters most.

I’m not going to put a timeline on it, but I’ll be ready for the first game. When anything matters, I’ll be very, very ready. I’m feeling good. I’m doing more and more, and the last two weeks have been huge and progressive for me.

Dak Prescott assured

With a new head coach and offensive play-caller in Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys are expected to take a cautious approach to Prescott’s return. Given his injury history, including previous ankle, calf, thumb, and shoulder issues, Dallas will likely prioritize his long-term health as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Over the past five years, Prescott has missed a total of 26 games due to various injuries. Despite these setbacks, he remains determined to return to full strength and lead the Cowboys in 2025.

The Dallas Cowboys’ coaching staff, now under offensive coordinator-turned-head coach Brian Schottenheimer, appears to be united in its vision for the team’s future. With a revamped staff on both sides of the ball, changes are inevitable, but they have been met with enthusiasm rather than resistance.

In his two years with the team in the locker room, the new head coach and Dak Prescott has built a strong rapport with him over that time. Prescott admitted that Schottenheimer’s passion for the game is a real game winner for the season and makes him the guy for the job.

When you all have a common goal, and that energy and passion are there, that accountability holds everything even stronger… We’ve felt it—I’ve felt it for years, honestly. That’s part of why Schotty is the man that he is. He can’t turn that off. He’s going to bring the energy, he’s going to bring the passion. He’s a coach’s son, so this game has given him so many opportunities, and he’s not going to cheat it. I’m excited for the way he approaches the game and how he’s going to push everybody around him. Even some of the assistants I’ve met—you can feel it.

Dak Prescott added

The current news seemed to project Brian Schottenheimer leading a smooth transition into the new head coaching role. However, the real test starts once the season starts. After almost three decades of not even a single conference game, the franchise’s fanbase is dwindling despite their high valuations.
