Dak Prescott can’t catch a break. The highest-paid quarterback avoided further discomfort even though he wasn’t even part of the Dallas Cowboys team that faced the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
In Prescott’s absence, head coach Mike McCarthy decided to share the snaps between Cooper Rush and Trey Lance. Rush began the game, and Lance stepped in when McCarthy had moments that suited his skill set.
Regardless of the dual-threat capabilities, the Cowboys fell behind early on. They allowed the Eagles to take a 28-point lead in three-quarters of football. Not only McCarthy’s system was proving to be miserable, they even faced divine intervention.
During the fourth quarter, things started to escalate very quickly. Heads dropped, and there wasn’t much enthusiasm left among the Cowboys. Lance snapped the ball from one and ten inside his half and hit tight end Jake Ferguson, but he dropped it. Eagles safety Reed Blankenship recovered the loose ball and almost returned back for a pick-six before Lance tackled him out of bounds.
The two athletes slid into the Cowboys dugout, where Dak Prescott stood wearing street clothes. Lance almost took his predecessor’s leg off. Fortunately, the 31-year-old managed to keep his balance.

The situation got even worse when Lance threw a wayward pass to the Eagles’ corner CJ Gardner-Johnson while trying to find Jalen Tolbert. It was the Cowboys’ fifth turnover of the game. The game ended 34-6 as the Eagles recorded their seventh win of the season while the Cowboys lost their sixth.
Why isn’t Dak Prescott playing for the Dallas Cowboys?
Prescott is lucky to get away with only a minor tig on his leg because it was the same one that he injured last week during the loss against the Falcons. Earlier this week, the doctors diagnosed him with a tear in his hamstring, and the Cowboys put him on injured reserve.
Prescott’s season more or less ended when EVP Stephen Jones announced that he would undergo surgery to repair the torn muscle.
Before getting injured, Dak Prescott had 1978 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Before the season started, he signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million, including $231 million guaranteed and an $80 million signing bonus.
