Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott reportedly plans to undergo surgery for his torn hamstring injury he sustained in their Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons. America’s team is currently third in their division with just three wins in eight games.
The quarterback, who received a huge chunk of money in the offseason through an extension, became the highest-paid player in the league. However, Prescott hasn’t been able to prove his worth as the Cowboys are 3-5 to the season. Needless to say, the team has been at the receiving end of many taunts by fans, former players, and analysts.
Recent reports indicate that Prescott’s injury has been diagnosed as a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon. NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported that the recovery for this type of injury typically takes over four weeks, meaning Prescott will likely spend a stint on injured reserve. The setback could ideally ruin their plans for the season as pressure mounts on the team.
Now Adam Schefter has reported that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to undergo a season-ending surgery to repair the partially torn hamstring. According to sources, Prescott’s decision is nearly final, though he is awaiting the opinion of one last specialist before proceeding.

With Prescott sidelined, the Cowboys are planning to Cooper Rush, whose strong 5-1 record as a starter should offer some hope to the team. However, six games aren’t much of an experience in the big leagues. Therefore, Rush will need to deliver exceptional performances to keep the Cowboys’ postseason ambitions alive.
Fans think that the Cowboys might be better off without Dak Prescott after all
Dak Prescott hasn’t been the leader America’s Team hoped for this season. His subpar performances have drawn the ire of fans. In 2024, Prescott has completed 185 of 286 passes (64.7%) for 1,978 yards with 11 touchdowns. The 31-year-old currently holds career lows in yards per completion (10.7) and passer rating (86.0). His completion rate is also his lowest since 2017.

The incident in which Prescott asked a fan to “jump off” was seen by many as a sign of giving up. It sparked widespread questions about Prescott’s commitment back then as well. Now, as the player prepares for an extended absence from the field, fans are suggesting that they might be better off without the league’s highest-paid QB.
Team will probably be better without him. Couldn’t be any worse.

I don’t know when or how or why this divide happened but there is now a fine line between Cowboys fans and Dak Prescott fans. And I don’t get it. If Dak was a better player or there was something truly special about him I could get it. But there’s not.

The Cowboys haven’t fixed Rush as the starter for the long-term considering his limited experience and the availability of an unused Trey Lance.
Cooper Rush SZN

The Cowboys will have a better record with Cooper Rush and Trey Lance then they have so far this season with Dak Prescott at the quarterback position

This season is NOT OVER. Trey Lance will save us. He’s by far a better QB than Jalen Hurts. He’s going to run the table until Dak Prescott returns. BOOKMARK IT!!!!#Cowboys #Eagles pic.twitter.com/8RattmfMLr
Amid the running notion that Cooper Rush is better than Dak Prescott, a certain fan wants the news off his screens. He echoed Cam Newton‘s comments and added that nobody cares about the Cowboys.
The Cooper Rush is better than Dak Prescott news coverage this week is gonna be unbearable. Like who tf cares about the sorry ass cowboys.
