The Dallas Cowboys, specifically owner and GM Jerry Jones, did not see the season coming to this. First their miserable losses against playoff teams while struggling with in incompetent roster.
Injuries also played their part as stars like Micah Parsons are out. But none more impactful than losing Dak Prescott for a good number of games.
In their last game against the Atlanta Falcons, Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury. Instantly, the franchise knew it was going to impact their season. So much so that the 31-year-old and his medical team decided to seek the best plan of recovery to get back out onto the field sooner rather than later.
The MRI did not give favorable feedback as they learned that the hamstring tendon tore off the born partially. An injury that needs time to heal. But so far, they did not place him on the Injured Reserve list. But the latest update from Stephen Jones suggests it is time.
The executive vice president confirmed in this call with 105.3 The Fan radio show that they will place their star QB on IR. ESPN’s Todd Archer mentioned the Cowboys are yet to do so, but Saturday being a day when they make roster moves, it is likely the highest-paid player in NFL history will be finally on IR.
How long will Dak Prescott be out?
According to Stephen Jones, there is some uncertainty with regards to how long Dak Prescott will be out. As mentioned above, the injury has a complicated healing process. If he recovers faster than usual, it is possible that the star QB could return after the four-week minimum Injured Reserve timeline.
But there is growing concern that he might not return in that time frame. Usually, such an injury takes anywhere between six to eight weeks. That is barring any setbacks. Todd Archer added this information from what he gathered from his sources.
Additionally multiple sources say Prescott is looking at 6-8 week recovery period. If he requires surgery, he would be out for the season. No decision has been made on surgery yet. https://t.co/jKG147ARyf

It means there is a chance Prescott could be out for the year. With playoff hopefuls waiting to face them in seven of their remaining nine games, it will not be an easy task to win games. As some say, the Dallas Cowboys season is already over. Therefore, it is possible that fans may not see Prescott this season.
